Kirsten Dunst has been discussing her battle with depression, which first surfaced in 2008. Despite only being 26 at the time, Kirsten had already been in the spotlight for over 14 years, and her illness finally caused her to take some much needed time out. This year, Kirsten starred in Lars Von Triers' 'Melancholia', which saw her character also suffering from the illness.
The 29 year-old appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' this week, and answered a question about her depression, saying "It's not something I feel like totally comfortable talking about but yeah, it's a very personal thing. I dealt with it". Kirsten also explained the paradox that being an actress could cause, saying "It's also interesting as an actress you're supposed to be sensitive and vulnerable and have this side to you. But then your supposed to be super sociable and 'on' and like nice to everybody. That's a weird dichotomy. It's a lot to ask of a person. It's not a normal thing".
Following her break from Hollywood in 2008, Kirsten returned to the spotlight with the film 'All Good Things' in 2010, and following the success of this year's 'Melancholia' looks to be back to where she was in the wake of her three globally successful appearances in the 'Spider-Man' franchise between 2002 and 2007.
